When Tybus notes that Ryder didn't leave himself much to bargain with, Ryder raises the possibility of copies. Tybus doesn't think a spy is worth a 'Mech, but Ryder places a disc on the table, saying he had enough evidence to shut Tybus down. Not fully realizing what he's done, Tybus agrees, and Redmond signs off with a hearty "Well Bargained and Done."Īfter this, the pilot from before, Valten Ryder, comes in with Martinez, asking if digging out a FedCom spy is even trade for his father's Centurion. He says he only has five 'Mechs of his own, so she decides to attack with two of her own. Redmond appreciates the invitation, but seems confused at the idea that someone would just give up a planet- so she asks what forces he'll use in the Trial of Possession. She brushes off his tirade by saying that the dealings of the Merchant Caste don't concern her, but Tybus invites her people to come in and take over the planet, and even offers her a pretty substantial piece of the action. Meanwhile Tybus is complaining about how the FedCom has no respect for "legitimate businessmen" like himself, and it turns out he's talking to Kristen Redmond of the Jade Falcons. Martinez that was trying to escape, but Adam and Rachael agree- that's their guy. This little conversation is interrupted by a shuttle blasting its way through the city dome, but its pursued by a Centurion, that jumps through the hole that the shuttle makes and lands a very tricky long-range shot to disable the shuttle's engines and force it to crash. Apparently the FedCom had busted him, but they weren't able to get the evidence to make things stick. Eventually they come across a swank building belonging to Boss Tybus, with Hawkins grumping about how the biggest criminals get to put their names on buildings. The team finds themselves on Dustball, a wretched armpit of a world- but since all of the regular military pilots are on their way to the invasion corridor or already there, the Strikers are left trying to pick up hired guns for some extra firepower on the long road to Somerset. ![]()
